Monaco is set to host one of its biggest destination weddings this week with the marriage of Kajal Fabiani, socialite and owner of Villa 39 restaurant in Mumbai, to the heir of the Marigold group, Gaurav Assomull.

One of Monaco’s biggest destination weddings kicked off on Monday 21st March, 2011 as the celebrations began of the nuptials between Kajal Fabiani, and Gaurav Assomull.

Like many other couples from all over the world who choose weddings abroad, Fabiani and Assomull tied the knot away from home and chose a lavish ceremony in the state of Principality with the first ceremony taking place at the Salle Garnier of the Opera de Monte-Carlo on Monday.

The beautiful European country of Monaco was chosen for the glitzy international event by the two families ahead of Beirut and Rome.

The main ceremony featured a blend of Hindu traditions and elegant luxury refinement Monaco is renowned for and the extravagant festivities are expected to continue until next week to celebrate the marriage of Fabiani, socialite and owner of Villa 39 restaurant in Mumbai and heir of the Marigold group, Assomull.

Over 1,200 invitations were sent out to people all across the world which came with their very own silver tray and chocolates from Chocolaterie de Monaco. The guests came from India’s high society and were dressed for the occasion in traditional Hindu wedding outfits as they celebrated the couple getting married abroad.

Additional guests who were invited to the overseas wedding included two Indian elephants who were decorated in jewelled headdresses. The elephants signified good luck for the couple to ensure they have a long and happy life together.

The lavish event was organised with the help of destination weddings organiser, Monte-Carlo Weddings. Frank Damgaard from the wedding specialist company, spoke of the event, saying: "What is so exciting about this event is that it brings together so many magical and romantic elements: a glamorous, high-society couple, a grandiose four-day, 600-guest wedding showcasing an amazing blend of Indian culture and world-renowned four-star venues and last but not least, the fairy-tale Principality of Monaco."
